Kansas’s forward Ronnie Platt has offered an update on his health following his recent thyroid cancer diagnosis.
“I’m home! The doctor said that my surgery could not have gone better, ”Platt announced, 64, through his Facebook Count on Wednesday, March 5.
Platt confirmed in February that he would have to temporarily step back from traveling with Kansas for treatment for thyroid cancer. The singer was assured by his doctors that he had a “99 percent survival rate” because the disease had not spread.
In his new message on Facebook, Platt credited Kansas’ faithful fans for keeping his spirit high with their supporting messages during a very difficult time.
“I felt the power of everyone’s prayers and positive energy! You all helped me (through) this. How am I, or can I, ever thank you all for that!? Day 1 of recovery here I am, ”he wrote.
As Platt started his way to recovery, he promised to his social media fans that he was committed to “going back to what he (he does) best.”
“Yeah, sing, but my true job entertains you all and helps you, at least for a couple of hours, forget about your problems and recharge your batteries. I take pride in that, ”he ended his message.
Earlier Platt had urged Kansas fans not to worry about his condition since his doctors detected his thyroid cancer early.

“My goal is not to replace Steve; No one can do that, ”Platt went on. “My goal is and it is responsible to maintain the integrity of Kansas. This is a lifelong dream and I would like to thank Phil, Rich, Billy, and David for the opportunity. Yes, I have the job, but now it’s time to win….
