Mohammad Hafez has expressed concern about the exclusion of Shaheen Afridi from Pakistan’s hatred template for the next New Zealand tour. The former Captain of Pakistan also questioned the decision of the national selectors to leave one of the most experienced pacers in the country, Shaheen Afridi.
AFRIDI, which is currently in ninth place in the ICC Bowler ranking, has been a key part of Pakistan’s rhythm attack for years, but he was surprisingly omitted from the hate squad for the next three -game hate series against New Zealand after a poor ICC Champions Champions 2025 campaign.
Mohammad Hafeez said that Afridi was first abandoned from the tests and that he is now overlooking the hatred as he poses questions about his role in Pakistan’s Cricket team. The former director of the Pakistani team admitted that Shaheen’s recent performances may not have been at his best, but it is a hard decision.
As the Cricket Pakistan cited, Mohammad Hafez said, “First, Shaheen Afridi dropped out of the tests and the reason given is that he is rested. But Shaheen himself says,” I’m not resting; They have dropped me. Yes, it has not been good in hatred and failure is a different problem, but this is not the right approach. First, was he withdrawn from the tests, after hatred, so is it exactly the role of Shaheen Afridi? “”
Recently, the PCB announced the Odi and T20I teams for the New Zealand Tour, scheduled from March 16 to April 5. The squad has great changes, with Shaheen and Harios Rauf missing from the hate team, while Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been out of the T20i template. However, Afridi has managed to find a place in the T20I squad for the five -game series in New Zealand.
Shaheen was unable to deliver to ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In the group in the group’s phase against New Zealand in Karachi, the star Pealer gave 68 runs in ten points without taking a wick, with a 6.80 economy rate. His performance against India in Dubai was also disappointing, as he granted 72 runs and took only two doctors at his eight points at an economic rate of 9.25.
Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar recently stated that Pakistan’s cricket is struggling because he has no strong role models for the next generation. This comment did not look good with Hafeez, who said goodbye to questioning the legacy of players in the 1990’s.

Hafez in Hai Show’s Game in PTV Sport: “I’m a great fan of those who played in the 1990’s, but when it was a legacy, they left nothing for Pakistan. They did not win any ICC event. As stars, as players, they were the mega superesters. But then they couldn’t inspire us by winning an ICC event.
He added: “People idolize today Babar Azam, and this is because even if they did not play a big hand in our 2017 Champions Trophy victory, it was there. So that this thing of winning the ICC events, these superstars of the 1990’s could not do so, with all respect for their talent.”
