Former New Zealand, Kane Williamson, opened in India playing only in Dubai before the final game of the ICC 2025 Champions Trophy. Kane Williamson stated that New Zealand is not worried about the advantage of Team India, adding that Blackcaps should be concentrated in their own game.
New Zealand defeated South -Africa by 50 runs in the semifinal at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 5. After the victory, the Kiwis qualified for their third final of the Champions Trophy. The team led by Mitchell Santner will face India in the final at the Dubai Cricket Stadium in Dubai on March 9.
At the post-party press conference, Kane Williamson dismissed the concern about India’s advantage of playing all his games in Dubai. Williamson said that the conditions vary throughout a tournament and praised India as a prominent team. Added that anything can happen in a great game.
“Yes, the conditions are definitely very different, but you know that it is a kind of the nature of the beast that I think in any tournament you have, the conditions change a little everywhere. It was good for us to have this last game against India,” said Williamson.
“There are some very good bits. India is a prominent team and playing very well. So look, it is important that we try to get some learning from this last game. Park this game and, in a final, anything can happen. And it was a great atmosphere the last game and I’m sure it will be good again.”
Kane Williamson remained smoothly about India playing all its games in Dubai. He admitted that India has experience playing Dubai, but added that New Zealand will focus on the final and adapt to the conditions.
“It’s what it is (India playing Dubai). Our goal is the next game, the location of this game, the opposition, they are all factors. Obviously, we played India once,” continued Williamson.
“The conditions are different, so it is important that we try to remove some of these positives and to be pleasant and clear in how we try to operate they reach the final of two or three days in the final. It is nature and we look forward to the final and excite with this,” he added.
India and New Zealand last played against each other in the final match of the group stage. The blue men won a 44 victory in a Dubai launch that respects the turn. Varun Chakravarthy dismantled New Zealand’s battle line with a five -wicket route. In the meantime, Kane Williamson marked a struggle of 81.
In the final, the battle of New Zealand has been in the first form, with Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell, contributing key contributions to the semifinal. However, India’s Spin attack, with Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadja and Chakravarthy, could have trouble again for Kiwi baptisms in the final.
New Zealand, known for his performance at the ICC tournaments, will be eager to avenge his loss in group phase and claim his title of Trophy of Llavement Champions.
