Creature permits easier than surviving them. How many times did we sit at the end of the year, decided that we would eat healthier or wake up earlier to go to the gym three times a week? Just to break these promises before January is over.
However, the ability to develop and maintain a good habit is crucial to a healthy life.
According to the World Health Organization, non -infective diseases (NCD), including heart disease, stroke and diabetes, are responsible for 74% of all deaths worldwide. Although these diseases are usually the result of a combination of genetic, physiological and environmental factors, behavioral factors also enter the game.
Some of the biggest behavioral – and prevented risk factors include: insufficient physical activity, unhealthy diets, harmful use of alcohol and tobacco, reported in December report WHO.
But there is one brain hacking that can help keep a healthy habit: preaching. This, according to Nir Eyal, is a behavioral design expert and the author of the bestsellers “repeated: how to control your attention and choose your life.”
The idea is to use preaching as a tool to refurbish or strengthen your personality. It can help you match more good habit, said Aile.
“If -Do heard a joke: How do you know that someone vegetarian? Don’t worry, they will tell you pillar.
“It’s not just a joke – it reveals something powerful in behavior. People who adhere to philosophy – whether it will be vegetarianism, keto or intermittent post – these are the ones who speak,” he said.
When you say to other people, “Keto is a way” or “I read this book, and now I am a follower of this methodology,” or whatever it is – preaching about it, you are most likely performing it.

This is because preaching can help strengthen the identity, said Aile. Just as the vegetarian would probably not think whether to eat steak for dinner, or the one who will not wake up, it is interesting if they should eat a bacon for breakfast.
“If you say to other people,” Keto is a way “or” I read this book, and now I am a follower of this methodology, “or whatever it is – preaching about it, you are most likely to perform it,” said El CNBC do this. “The fact that otherwise it will simply be an opinion becomes a person, and then it is very difficult to form.”
Along with the strengthening of identity, the prejudice sequence is another reason why the sermon can help in accordance with a good habit, Eial reports.
“If you look at the work of the 1980s Robert CialdiniThis is the famous principle we seek to match our past behavior and in psychology we call it a The bias of the sequencesaid El.
“We do not want to be controversial because it makes us look like liars,” he said. “So, if you say one thing, you strive to match what you said. Ironically, even if you want to change your mind at heart, it’s hard to do because you have already been done.”
Social pressure also plays a role. “When we declare something publicly, we are prosecuted on the basis of our social ties,” Aile said. There is a fear that if we give up our habits or beliefs provided publicly, it may poorly reflect on us or laggs from our community, he explained.
“We are a very social appearance, so everything that threatens our group identity is very horrible, so we will most likely remain consistent,” Aile said.
But the important nuance is that we should not be “jerk”, he noted.
“This is also a great way to lose friends. If people think you put yourself in one group and put them in another group – it can harm. So, you want to make sure (while) something good for you, (it’s) without alienating others.”
