The bus accident in Bolivia kills at least 37 people

At least 37 people were killed and 30 left the wounded after two passenger buses collided in Bolivia, police said.

The accident occurred at the beginning of Saturday about 5 km (3 miles) from the southwestern city of Uyuni.

One of the drivers received intensive assistance and the other was in a stable condition, said the police commander Wilson Flores.

Images published in the Bolivian media showed a badly damaged coach, breaking the body, and the luggage, scattered on the road.

The buses collided on the route between Uyuni and Kolhani in the Potosi Bolivia department after the “invasion of the lane”, local media reported.

One bus was traveling to the western city of Orura, where the ORURO Carnival was one of the largest Latin America festivals.

The cars were restored at 10:00 local time (14:00 GMT), and the victims were taken to the hospital both from Arura and Potosi.

Those who died were not identified and the condition of the victims has not yet been determined.

According to local media, CDR Flores said the police are expecting the results of alcoholic trials conducted by drivers.

Death roads are often found in Bolivia. In February, more than 30 people were killed If the bus was plunged by almost 800 m (2625 feet) in the ravine Between the cities of Potos and Orura.

In January, 19 people were killed when another bus left the road in the same region, also near Potosi.

On average, 1,400 people die annually in road accidents in the country about 12 million residents, according to state data.
