A singer Michelle Williams used to sharing her name – even having fun sometimes.
The Broadway star, 45, posted via Instagram Story on Sunday, December 22, showing an instance where someone mistook him for the actress Michelle Williams.
Former Destiny’s Child member, currently starring in the musical adaptation of the 1992 film Death Is Coming on Broadway, posted a photo of letters he received, alongside some photos – of the wrong Michelle Williams.
“Fan Mail😂🥴,” he captioned the picture, which showed a letter addressed to Ms Williams, with two pictures of The Greatest Showman actress, 44.
She then posted again on her Instagram story, “I found out when she was on Broadway in Cabaretshe had also gotten a post with my photos too! That makes me happy! 😂❤”
This is not the first time the “Say Yes” singer has commented on fans confusing her with the actress of the same name.
After the actress Williams received an Emmy in 2019 for her role as Gwen Verdon in Fosse/Verdonsinger Williams said she received multiple comments from confused fans.
“How come when you all tag and congratulate a person, do you all see that I’m black?” said the singer via Instagram Live. “When you go to my profile, you’re looking for the ‘Michelle Williams,’ I’m black. OK? I am not mixed with anything; I’m not mixed with Persian, Russian, I’m black.”
During her Emmy speech, actress Williams spoke about equal pay in the industry, which singer Williams said she received criticism for online.
“I’m trying to figure out, ‘Why in the world am I being cursed out in my comments for Michelle Williams’ speech?’ and I thought it was the truth. I thought it was great,” he said. “I thought it was factual – I could be wrong. But yeah, I told this woman a few minutes ago on my Instagram, I was like, ‘I’m sorry my one of those upset you, but can’t you see that I’m black? ‘”
The “Lose My Breath” singer made it clear that she supports The Fablemans the actress’ speech.
“She was beautiful. She was great. Honey, she played Gwen Verdon to a T. She was great,” he said. “Now make it right, and don’t hide me out.”
The Venom actress has also commented on their name mix-up before. In an interview with Huffpost announced in 2018, the actress noticed the fact that Google’s search function would show her picture when someone searched for “fate’s five members.”
“It takes me one step closer to him Beyoncéso I’m pretty good with it,” said the actress at the time. “Now I’ll have an icebreaker if I ever get to meet Beyoncé. I’ll talk to her about the old days of Destiny’s Child. So thank you because I’ll obviously be tongue-tied if and when that ever happens, and now I’ll know exactly what to say.”
