Section 31 Looks So Familiar

The return of Emperor Philippa Giorgiou (Michelle Yeoh) in “Star Trek: Section 31” has been linked to a rather wild crew. Her crew during the film’s strange but crucial special operation is made up of a collection of fascinating characters, ranging from Omari Hardwick’s Contact Section 31 Alok Sahar i Sam Richardson’s Quasi cameloid character. Since the entire team is determined to be of the black ops variety, they are effectively expendable. The borderline redshirt nature of the group is underlined fairly early in the film when attractive Deltan team member Melle tries to subdue a target – and is promptly shot to death.

One of Humberly González’s first major roles was Jessica, a significant recurring character and the girlfriend of one of the show’s main characters, Jess Damon (Brooke Markham), on The CW’s crime drama series “In the Dark.” Jessica doesn’t really like the main character of the series, the blind and acerbic Murphy Mason (Perry Mattfield), which causes a problem as Murphy and Jess are close. In “Utopia Falls,” Hulu’s 2020 sci-fi series with coming-of-age elements, a seemingly perfect future society eschews annual chaos of the “Purge” or “Hunger Games” variety in favor of an annual talent competition. Humberly González plays one of the contestants in this Model competition, featuring bright eyes and a bushy tail, Brooklyn 2. As she said Hollywood life in 2019, the futuristic, controlled, heavily censored reality of New Babil is a fascinating setting for the show’s teen drama elements:

2021’s “Nobody” takes the strange premise of putting Bob Odenkirk of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” fame into a “Taken”-style scenario, and turns it into a surprisingly entertaining one-man army story. Humberly González plays Lupita, one of the two people who cause retired killer Hutch Mansell’s (Odenkirk) old instincts to stir for the first time. She and Luis Edsson Morales are a couple of thieves who attack the Mansell household and cause the Hutch family to criticize him for being so meek and cowardly.

In reality, of course, the only thing Hutch does is hold back to maintain his family man guise and to save everyone—especially the thieves—from unnecessary risk. Privately, he soon tracks down Lupita and Luis, only to be disappointed when he discovers that they are just two young, broken parents acting out of sheer desperation. It’s really rare for a criminal to commit an evil deed against the main character’s family in a “Taken” expedition and live to tell the tale, but this particular conflict proves that “Nobody” is his own beast – and he González and Morales play their roles perfectly.

Netflix’s perfectly imperfect and messy comedy-drama “Ginny & Georgia” is an enjoyable hodgepodge of small town soap opera, high school drama, and surprisingly dark undertones. The main focus of the show is the mother-daughter duo of Georgia (Brianne Hovey) and Ginny (Antonia Gentry), but as tends to be the case with shows like this, there’s a solid supporting cast … which includes one of main programs of Humberly González. recurring character Sophie Sanchez.

Sophie is a cool and popular high school senior whose budding relationship with Ginny’s friend Max (Sara Waisglass) is a major season 1 plot point, and she also appears in several episodes of season 2. Humberly González’s first screen credit dates back to 2015, and she has reliably appeared in multiple projects every year since 2017. Her current personal record year is 2021, when she worked on no less than 12 different projects , in front of the camera and in and able to voice act.

His most prominent voice role to date is undoubtedly the young Canto Bight thief Kay Vess, the protagonist of Ubisoft’s 2024 “Star Wars” action-adventure game “Star Wars Outlaws.” González also portrays the character through motion capture. In that respect, her turn as Melle makes González one of the few actors who have worked on “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” projects.
