AAQIB Javir in Pakistan’s performance in the current WTC cycle

While talking to journalists before the second test between Pakistan and the Western Indies, Aaqib Javed wondered about team performance in the WTC global cycle. Javed wants his team to win all the tests at home, as he understands that the main goal of the World Test Championship is to do it at home.

“People question the direction of our test cricket. If better decisions had been made earlier, we could have been in the WTC final or at least it could have been in the race,” Javed said.

“The main goal of the World Test Championship is to win at home at any price. If you win at home and you can win at least 2-3 events abroad, then you are a strong candidate in the final,” he observed.

Pakistan has not been at home at home in this WTC cycle. They lost 0-2 against Bangladesh after the T20 2024 World Cup and then lost to England in the first test of the series.

They even lost a series of distance against Australia and South -Africa in this cycle to leave the race for the final of the World Test Championship. Currently, they are eighth among the nine teams in the WTC standings.

Currently, Pakistan is 1-0 in the ongoing test series against the West Indies. The second and final test of the series will begin on January 25 in Multan. The pitch is expected to favor the turn as in the first test.

Non Ali and Sajid Khan were at the helm of the team’s victory in the first test. The left arm spinner, Non, collected six doctors in the match, which included a five -wicket transport in the first entrances.

On the other hand, the Sajid Khan counter ended with figures of 4-65 and 5-50 at both tickets to appear as a game player. Pakistan will be the favorites who will enter the second test and are likely to complete a target.
