Guy Pearce and Carice van Houten Have Been Broken ‘For Years’

Carice van Houten sets the record straight about her relationship with Guy Pearce.

The Game of Thrones an actress went to her Instagram Story on Wednesday, January 22, to confirm that she and Pearce, 57, have not been together “for years.” The revelation comes after Pearce recently described an ex-wife Kate Mestitz as the “the greatest love” of his life.

“I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but due to several conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear,” van Houten, 48, wrote alongside with a picture of her and Pearce.

She continued, “I and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a ‘couple’ for years. (Sorry for not mentioning it earlier.)”

“However, I am very pleased to say that we are in a wonderful partnership that is raising the true love of our lives – our beautiful son and his hamster. The end,” van Houten finished, referring to the couple’s son, Monte.

In an interview with The Guardian announced Saturday, January 18, Pearce make a confession about his relationship with his ex-wife.

“My ex-wife, Kate, was the love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now and the love of my life is my child, Monte,” the Brutalist said an actor.

Opening up about his “biggest disappointment,” Pearce said he “felt like I messed up my marriage.” He added, “I don’t feel that way anymore, but at the time I was disappointed.”

Pearce and Mestitz, 58, met in 1980 when they attended Geelong College in Australia and tied the knot in 1997. In January 2015, the couple shared that they had separated.

“Kate and I will always love and support each other and be best friends,” Pearce said in a statement at the time. “Nobody knows me like Kate, and we will forever cherish our mutual respect. We have both grown immensely through our relationship, but unfortunately, the time has come to half way.”

Pearce moved on with van Houten – who is best known for playing Game of Thrones‘ Melisandre – and the couple welcomes son Monte in 2016. “A cute little package arrived and told us his name was Monte Pearce. We think we’re going to keep it. Placenta smoothie anyone?” Pearce wrote through X in 2016, tagging van Houten.
