In a joyful moment during India’s first T20I match against England at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Indian reaper Arshdeep Singh he made headlines not only for his bowling prowess, but also for his athleticism.
The left arm fast bowler, over Yuzvendra Chahal becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, achieving this milestone in his 61st match for India, taking his tally to 97 wickets. This achievement came during a crucial power play when Arshdeep dismissed Phil Salt with a sharp bounce in the first over and followed it up with the wicket of Ben Duckett in the third over, effectively tying England early in the game.
With this performance, Arshdeep not only broke Chahal’s record of 96 wickets but also showcased his form and potential, setting his sights on becoming one of the fastest to reach 100 T20I wickets globally .
After the match, Arshdeep talked about his performance and how the Indian team played. Arshdeep expressed his happiness and gratitude, acknowledging that his hard work has finally paid off. He shared his determination to maintain his form and continue to contribute to the team’s success by taking crucial wickets for the country, highlighting his commitment to give his best on the international stage.
“I feel very good, I am grateful that my work has paid off and I will try to continue taking wickets for the country,” he added. Arshdeep said in a video shared by BCCI on Instagram.
Before finishing, Arshdeep showed a light-hearted moment of camaraderie and humor by apologizing to Chahal for outdoing him. With a smile, he said “Yuzi Bhai” and touched his ears, mimicking an apologetic gesture in a funny and endearing way.
