Rachel Lindsay Calls Bryan Abasolo’s Divorce a ‘Fresh Start’

Rachel Lindsay he said “it feels great” to move on from her and Bryan Abasolodivorce — along with the drama that came with it.

“It feels like a new beginning,” Lindsay, 39, to TMZ during a short interview on Tuesday, January 21. The first Bachelorette star stopped by the outlet at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) days after attending a college football event in Atlanta.

Lindsay was all smiles on Saturday, January 18, while attending the 11th Annual Allstate Party at The Playoff. The event marked Lindsay’s first public appearance since then Us Weekly confirm that on January 7 she had finalized her divorce from Abasolo, 44.

The former couple met during season 13 of The Bachelorettewhich aired in 2017, and then got engaged. Lindsay and Abasolo got married in August 2019 and he filed for divorce in January 2024.

Court documents obtained by Us revealed at the time that they separated in December 2023 and that Abasolo was seeking spousal support. (They did not sign a prenuptial agreement before they got married.)

In July 2024, a judge ordered Lindsay to do just that paying taxpayers $13,257 a month in temporary spousal support. She also had to pay him $15,000 in attorney fees and $5,000 for the expenses of forensic experts.

Lindsay and Abasolo’s divorce decreeobtained by Us earlier this month, he stated that Abasolo “waives, discharges and releases” Lindsay from “any” future charges. Court documents revealed, however, that Lindsay still owes Abasolo $460,229.

Their divorce agreement stated that Lindsay would keep her engagement and wedding rings along with their home in California and her Porsche Macan in 2023. Abasolo kept their home in Miami and his 2021 Honda Accord.

“From the moment she finally left the house, after being here for seven months post-separation, I felt like I was divorced,” Lindsay said during the January 10 episode of her “Advanced Learning” podcast.. “I’ll be honest, there’s a lot I want to say.”

He added, “I haven’t spoken, but I will and I’m figuring it all out. There (are) so many things I want to tackle.”

Lindsay explained in the same podcast episode that there were parts of the divorce from Abasolo that “bothered” her – including a “narrative” that she “put a career” over their marriage.

“On his end, there were some things that were said to contribute to some stereotypes that really hurt or bothered me,” he explained. “Saying things that particularly affect the stereotype of me as an angry Black woman.”
