The European Central Bank is “not overly concerned” about the impact of inflation abroad on the euro zone, the institution’s president, Christine Lagarde, told CNBC on Wednesday.
Asked about the potential consequences for Europe if inflation were to resume in the US, Lagarde said: “If inflation flares up again in the United States, it will certainly be a problem for the United States, that is where the first and foremost consequences will be. .”
“We are not too concerned about exporting inflation to Europe.”
“It will be an interesting phenomenon that we will observe. The exchange rate, for example, will be interesting and … there may be implications, but we are certainly interested in the US growing because US growth has always been a positive factor for the rest of the world,” she added.
