Despite bowling with intensity and passion throughout the 5 matches Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Mohammed Siraj didn’t get the results he expected. Apart from a strong performance in the Sydney Test, Siraj was largely ineffective in the series, conceding too many runs without significantly troubling the Australian batsmen. His underwhelming performance in the Test series cost him a place in the team of the Champions Trophy 2025with other pacers like Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shamii jasprit bumrah being preferred over him.
After being dropped from the Indian squad for the prestigious tournament, Siraj has now outlined his future plans, sharing a post on social media that has sparked a major discussion in the cricketing community.
The 30-year-old has kept his distance from the limelight and has not been seen in public since the announcement of the Indian team for the England ODI series and Champions Trophy 2025 took place. Fans are speculating that Siraj has been dropped from the team due to the pacer’s lack of efficiency during the Test series against Australia and the team management’s decision to go for more spinners in the bowling department . However, Siraj has indirectly revealed his thoughts on the omission and opened up about his plan ahead.
In the viral social media post, Siraj can be seen at the gym taking a selfie using the gym mirror with dumbbells and other workout equipment around him. The Indian pacer added a caption “Reset, restart, refocus” pointing out that he has started preparing for a comeback in the Indian team.

Siraj is expected to be a big miss for the Champions Trophy 2025. The right-arm pacer has an impressive white-ball record and was a crucial component of India’s bowling unit during the ICC tournaments. Siraj has played 44 matches for the country and has taken 71 wickets so far at an economy rate of 5.18. The most memorable moment of Siraj’s limited-overs career so far was his remarkable 6-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in Colombo in September 2023.
Siraj was also part of the lethal trio during the ODI World Cup 2023 along with Shami and Bumrah and took 14 wickets during the tournament, thus becoming a constant conflict for the batsmen. Despite the sensational display with the bowl, India did not win the world cup and was defeated by Australia in the final of the tournament.
