Umesh Yadav expresses frustration after not being sold in IPL 2025 mega auction

Indian right arm fast bowler Umesh Yadavwhich has been a basic element in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since 2010, he has expressed his disbelief after going there unsold during IPL 2025 mega auction. Yadav, who has been a consistent performer for over a decade, expressed his surprise and frustration, especially after playing 148 matches and taking 144 wickets in his IPL career.

Yadav has expressed his shock and disappointment at not being picked in the IPL 2025 mega auction despite playing for 15 years and featuring in nearly 150 matches. He admitted that the exclusion was upsetting and felt it was difficult to accept.

“Everyone knows that I have not been selected for the IPL this year. I have been playing for 15 years. It’s very shocking to me. Why should I lie? It feels bad. After playing so much and playing close to 150 IPL matches, you don’t get selected. It’s shocking,” Yadav said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Umesh Yadav acknowledges the decisions of the franchise but expresses his displeasure

The right-arm bowler attributed the decision to franchise strategies or the time his name was called when they were short of money. Despite his disappointment, he recognized that he could not change the decisions made by others.

“It depends on the franchises and their strategies, or my name came late in the auction, and they didn’t keep any money. Regardless, something happened. I’m very frustrated and upset. But still, it’s okay. I can’t change anyone’s decision.” he added.

Umesh Yadav’s IPL legacy

Yadav’s IPL journey has spanned 15 years, with notable stints at various franchises. He made his IPL debut in 2010 for Capitals of Delhi and went on to represent several teams, among them Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore i Gujarat Titans. Over the years, he has been an integral part of his team’s bowling attacks, known for his pace and wicket-taking ability. His best IPL season came in 2022 when he took 16 wickets in 12 matches for Kolkata Knight Riders, showcasing his ability at the highest level.
