Garcia Vs Rolly, Haney Vs Ramirez, Bakole Vs Ajagba: Triple-Header in Times Square

Turki Al-Sheikh just announced that Ryan Garcia will fight former WBA Light Welterweight Champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Devin Haney will face Jose Ramirez and Martin Bakole will fight Efe Ajagba on the same card in may This is expected to be shown on PPV from Times Square in New York.

Triple header fights

  • Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero
  • Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez
  • Martin Bakole vs. Efe Ajagba

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has had a tough fight, facing former WBA and WBO light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs). I wonder if this was Bill Haney’s brilliant idea to pair Devin with this guy. He might live to regret ever having fought.

Rolly Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) is a surprise opponent for Ryan, as Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz had been the name he was rumored to be fighting. Romero is seen as a one-hit wonder.

Cruz knocked out Rolly in the eighth round last year on March 30 in a title mismatch. For Ryan to be fighting Rolly suggests that he doesn’t want to risk losing to him after his long layoff of 13 months.

It was a fight fans would have been excited for, but there would have been a lot at stake for Garcia because Cruz could really fight. Rolly has two of his last four fights, and some believe he would have lost a third if not for a freak stoppage in his May 2023 bout against Ismael Barroso.

That’s where the referee suddenly stopped the fight after Rolly threw a flurry of punches, with all of them punching the air. He then threw Rolly’s hand up in the air, giving him a knockout win, while Barroso just stood there like, “What’s going on here.” No rematch was given to Barroso, which made Rolly look even worse.
