The X social network is trying to capitalize on the removal of ByteDance apps like TikTok and Lemon8 from US app stores launching a dedicated vertical video feed.
The company added a video tab in the bottom bar of the app for users in the United States to allow them to quickly access video content on the platform.
“A new immersive home for videos is coming to users in the US today,” the company said a post on Sunday.
X users already can scroll short videos by tapping a video on the timeline and scrolling. This new tab for videos is just a dedicated section for these videos. In addition, it is not the first time that the company has trying to create a new home for videos.
A reverse app engineer had previously previewed a media tab for videos, but this is the first time X has made an official announcement.
The social network has lately been focused on video experiences. Last year, he launched a standalone TV app to see videos from different organizations and creators.
With TikTok facing problems in the US, social networks are trying to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the ByteDance applications in the US Meta announced Video editing app called Edits to compete with ByteDance’s CapCut, while X rivals Bluesky launched a custom feed for vertical videos.
