Glenn Close says one film has been made audiences realize it could be sexual


Glenn Close has identified the film she believes has finally made audiences realize she could be more than Cruella de Vil – her 1978 film Fatal Attraction.

“I think it was the first time people realized we could be sexual,” Close, 77, said during an interview with today’s Willie Geist on Sunday’s episode, January 19 of Sunday sitting.

The film stars Close as Alex Forrest, a woman who begins an affair with Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas). She becomes increasingly mentally unstable as it becomes clear that he is trying to end the relationship, to her eventual demise.

The film began as a short Diversion before it was developed into a feature length production by the writer-director James Dearden. It spent eight weeks at No.1 at the box office and became the second highest grossing film of 1987, failing Three Men and a Baby. Fatal Attraction earned more than $157 million domestically and earned six Academy Award nominations, including for Close.

As well as reminiscing about her legendary career in Hollywood, Close has recently been open about her personal life. When appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show On Monday, January 13, the actress was asked if she had dated since her 2015 divorce David Shaw. (The pair were married for nine years.) Close revealed that not only has she been single the whole time, but she is “very happy right now.”

After host Drew Barrymore asked if Close has tried any dating apps, she replied, “Are you crazy?” before she added, “No, I’m too shy to do that.”

Close also said she was not particularly interested in finding a relationship. “I’m not looking,” he added. “Because I’m really, I’m not a super, comfortable, social person, so I don’t jump to go to a party.”

Before her marriage to Shaw, Close was married James Marlas from 1984 to 1987 and Cabot Wade from 1969 to 1971. She also shares a daughter, Albu Annie Starkewith an ex-boyfriend John Strong.

The actress went on to star several critically acclaimed films follows Fatal Attractionincluding Dangerous Connections, The Woman, Hillbilly Elegy, Air Force One a 101 Dalmatians. She also won an Emmy Award for the 1995 TV movie Serving in silence: Margarethe Cammermeyer’s story.

Close has yet to win an Academy Award for acting, despite the fact that she has nominated eight times throughout her career.
