In an exciting moment during the 12th game of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Gerhard Erasmus i Ibrahim Zadran made an impressive concerted effort to say goodbye Andrew Russell. The spectacular catch became the highlight of the Gulf Giants’ dominant performance against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
The stunning dismissal came in the Knight Riders’ 15th innings. Face left arm spinner Ayyan Afzal KhanRussell looked to bowl a full delivery into the stands with a powerful catchphrase. The ball soared high, traveling almost past long-on, but Erasmus, positioned near the boundary rope, leaped to one-hand it out of the air. Realizing he was losing his balance and about to cross the line, Erasmus flicked the ball through the air to Zadran, who sprinted from mid-wicket to complete the catch. The layoff not only displayed outstanding athleticism, but also highlighted impeccable coordination between the two Philistines.
A giant effort to get rid of Andre the Giant! 🫡

Despite a good start, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders could only manage 176/9 in their 20 overs. Michael-Kyle Pepper he anchored the innings with a quick-fire 57 off 35 balls, but the team struggled to maintain the momentum after his dismissal.
Aayan emerged as the star bowler for the Gulf Giants, taking an impressive spell of 4/16 to dismantle the Knight Riders’ middle order. Their accurate and disciplined bowling, along with the brilliance of Erasmus and Zadran, kept the score in check during the latter half of the innings.
