Trump reportedly wants to visit China again after taking office

President-elect Trump is discussing the possibility visiting China again as president with aides, according to the report.

The president-elect, who will take office on Monday, visited Beijing during his first term in 2017, and talked with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping by phone on Friday.

Trump threatened China with tariffs but has told advisers he wants to strengthen ties with the communist country with a visit, possibly even going there within his first 100 days in office, Wall Street Journal It is reported with reference to sources familiar with this matter.

“I just spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The call was very good for both China and the US,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday. “I hope that we will solve many problems together, and we will start immediately. We discussed the balance between trade, fentanyl, TikTok and many other topics. President Xi and I will do our best to make the world more peaceful and secure!”

He did not say whether they talked about the visit.

It is also possible that Xi could pay a visit to the White House, the Journal reported.

Xi also met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in 2017.

Xi was invited to Trump’s inauguration on Monday – no senior Chinese official has ever attended a US presidential inauguration – but Chinese Vice President Han Zheng will attend in his place for the first time.

Trump and Xi plan to establish a strategic communication channel, China said of their phone conversation on Friday, adding that Trump said he was “looking forward to meeting President Xi as soon as possible.”
