Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Neighbors in the posh Californian town the couple fled to after stepping down from their royal roles are reportedly calling them local villains.
One Montecito resident who has never met the couple but has spoken to her Fair of vanitycalled the duo Prince and “Star”.
Neighbors in the quiet Santa Barbara neighborhood have blamed Markle and Prince Harry for many new annoyances, including rising housing prices, busy streets and more.
According to anonymous residents, since the arrival of Markle and Harry in 2020, the neighborhood has seen a significant increase in tourist traffic. Vanity Fair also reported that several people they spoke to noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become local villains.

“You know, what’s so great about[Meghan and Harry]is that they didn’t come here to live off our community. They came here to be part of our community.”
Markle’s latest business venture Riviera’s American Orchardis also in Montecito, according to Vanity Fair. According to the outlet, a book published by the Southern Pacific Company rail lines in 1898 states, “Montecita is known as the American Riviera.” However, that honor now belongs to Santa Barbara.
“It’s kind of a hoot,” the resident told Vanity Fair. “She just finds every possible way to monetize something.
“I still think they are the most entitled, dishonest people on the planet,” the resident added. “They moved from England to get away from the scrutiny of the press, and all they’re doing is trying to get into the press in the United States.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to representatives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.

Meanwhile, the appearance of the couple was praised by their famous neighbor Sharon Stone.
“You know what’s so great about them is that they didn’t come here to live off our community. They came here to be part of our community,” she said Access to Hollywood in 2020.
“My friend said she was sitting in her car and they cycled across the street and waved at her while she was sitting at a red light,” she recalls. “They are part of our community. They have become a sacrificial, caring and active part of our community. They’re not here to say, “Do you want to kiss my ass?”
Montecito has been home to several celebrities, including Natalie Portman, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, Adam Levine, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Keaton and Oprah.

Although he moved to the United States five years ago after stepping down from senior positions in the royal family, Prince Harry is reported to have no public life outside of his nuclear family.
“(Meghan) has been open about the fact that Harry doesn’t have many friends yet,” a source who has worked with Markle in the past professionally told Vanity Fair.
Markle and Prince Harry hit the ground running and landed a massive Netflix deal just months after making Montecito their home in 2020. They first released their documentaries, Harry and Meghan in 2022 The show brought in the largest one-day audience of any Netflix series since it began streaming in October 2022. A year later in 2023. they released the documentary series “Invincible Heart” and in 2024. “Polo” was removed.

However, it is described in several sources Markle and Prince Harry as “really great ideas” for shows that never got made.
“I think Harry doesn’t know what he wants because he grew up in a fishbowl, so he doesn’t know what real life is,” an insider who has worked with the couple on media projects told Vanity Fair. “I think he probably wants to be left alone and be able to kiss the kids once in a while, but not worry about the money. I don’t think he wants to be famous like Meghan wants to be famous.”
