SZA Takes 10-Day Pledge of Silence in India as Her Movie Opens

SZA revealed that she is about to embark on a 10-day vow of silence in India as her first film One of Their Days is released.

The singer-songwriter (real name Solána Imani Rowe) shared her excitement about it release the film before the vow of silence begins via Instagram post on Friday, January 17.

“Man listens. I’m in India and they’re going to take my phone in 7 hours for a 10 day vow of silence 😭 , but WE COULD MISS RELEASE DAY!!” SZA, 35, wrote: “I swear to God this was the most unique experience of my entire life!”

Referring to its producer Issa Rae and costar Keke PalmerSZA added, “When I signed on for this movie I literally didn’t think one thing other than ‘damn I love Issa and Keke for honor.’ I didn’t think about how I was on tour and wouldn’t get to practice or prepare, I didn’t think about how I had the luxury of finishing it or considering that I had to be on camera anytime 😂😭 (like duh , dummy.) That sounds crazy but that’s how much I love respect and admire these women!! NO THOUGHTS JUST YES.”

SZA went on to praise the rest of the team involved, and emphasized how they put in so much hard work to achieve the finished product.

“ @tiffanyblackness you are the best acting coach I could ever ask for! We literally met on set 😂 you whipped me into shape in real time .. ur a 🐐!! Coming out of my shell, facing myself and the world for this film has been a transformative experience,” SZA continued.

“Each step of the way I’m shedding more skin and gaining more respect for the process. @keke you are a blessing. every day. Thank you for taking time to get to know me and see me beyond preconceived notions. You captured me in ways I will never be able to post (let’s just say if it has to go down, it will 🤭😭). Ur girl girl and not for play. @issarae and @lawrencelamont thank you for seeing something in me anytime!!”

The “Kill Bill” singer. he went on to joke, “Yall are crazy for picking someone w NO acting experience for co star 😂but dammit!!! I CAN NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR YOUR TRUST PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING. I need you both to know, this changed my life.”
