NBC News shed some light President Biden legacy and the somber mood that has gripped the White House in the president’s final days in an article Thursday.
Article contrasted Biden’s promise to “unite the country, strengthen his party and protect democracy” when he took office with what has actually played out during his presidency.
According to the report, Biden “leaves the nation divided, the party in tatters, and the American people questioning the institutionalist’s respect for the rule of law.”

This disconnect between Biden’s promise when he took office and his actions as president has led many Democrats to “accuse Biden of handing the White House to Donald Trump, criticizing the aging politician for staying in office too long and faltering after he pardoned his son,” NBC News said.
According to a person directly familiar with Biden’s comments, the president has “privately considered the idea of pardoning (President-elect Donald) Trump as a magnanimous move,” while the president “has not spoken to some of his closest associates.”
The article quotes prominent Democratic political strategist James Carville as he discusses Biden’s legacy and his final days in office.
“The story of Joe Biden is one of the greatest tragedies of American politics. I really mean it. He should have a glorious, well-deserved and highly appreciated retirement. And he doesn’t do that,” Carville said, adding: “It’s hard to blame anyone but him.”

The article details Biden’s “many broken friendships,” claiming, “He is estranged from some of the people who were once among his most powerful allies.”
According to NBC News, “he (Biden), along with first lady Jill Biden, has a grudge against former President Barack Obama, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and several former aides, including Bob Bauer and Anita Dunn, all of whom he considers Either failed him or pushed him out of the 2024 race, according to several people close to him.

The article also claims that former Biden adviser Anita Dunn and former Biden lawyer Bob Bauer accused members of the Biden family of being “unceremoniously” cut out of the president’s inner circle.
“Dunn and Bauer were outraged that they were unceremoniously kicked out of the president’s inner circle, and blamed it, in particular, on two members of the Biden family — Hunter Biden and Jill Biden,” according to NBC News.

James Carville’s mournful quote at the end of the article seems to capture the general energy that surrounded the end of the Biden presidency.
“Joe Biden has had many successful acts in his life. Unfortunately, you will be remembered for your last act,” he said. “Right now, he’s remembered as the guy who stayed too long.”
