Congress must stop Biden’s disastrous energy policies to restore the American economy

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!

If congressional Republicans are going to follow through on our promises of a booming economy and stable prices, we’d be wise to relax soon disastrous energy policy that the Biden-Harris regime imposed on one of America’s most important industries.

President Biden is using his final days in office to rub salt in the wounds The US energy sector. Most recently, the Biden-Harris administration imposed another ban on offshore drilling on more than 625 million acres of the US coast. He used an obscure 1953 law to ban all future leasing in restricted coastal areas, making it extremely difficult for an incoming Trump administration to reverse course.

President Biden is not only ignoring American voters imposing other damaging energy policies after his party lost the White House, but he is also making it harder for President Trump to revive the US economy and ease inflation.

The Biden-Harris administration has taken every opportunity to make fossil fuel-based energy production more expensive, knowing that high energy prices cause inflation and slow economic growth.

President Biden blocked it Keystone XL Pipelinekilling thousands of American jobs. He issued more than 125 executive orders terminating leases and halting new energy development. It also banned the development of all new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals in the United States, putting several facilities in Louisiana at risk. His administration has done everything it can to otherwise burden American energy producers with costly new regulations.

The anti-energy policies of the Biden-Harris administration have caused inflation over the past four years. As of December, the average American was paying 29% more for electricity and 31% more for gasoline compared to prices in President Biden’s first month in office. In 2024 alone, Louisiana families paid nearly $1,000 more to turn on the lights and fill up their gas tanks.

High energy and gas prices have also made it more expensive to do business. When a grocery store pays 29% more to keep the refrigeration system running and 31% more for the fuel needed to transport the products, the business has no choice but to raise prices on everything else. That’s why Louisiana residents are paying $1,500 more a year for groceries than they did before President Biden took office.

The only way our country will crawl out from under President Biden’s high prices is if our economy grows rapidly, but we know that high energy prices slow economic growth.

President Trump will need every tool at his disposal to rebuild American Energy independence and lay the foundation for the future. Congress can help. We need to demand that the Home Office approves more buy-to-let, especially offshore. The department must maintain a schedule of at least two lease sales each year. Last year, the Biden-Harris administration did not conduct any hiring.

Existing federal regulations also lengthen the permitting process and cripple LNG and oil producers. Congress could reform the bureaucratic permitting process to reduce unnecessary judicial review and make reviews concurrent rather than sequential.

In 2019, presidential candidate Biden told activists, “I guarantee you that we will end the use of fossil fuels.” Right now, real wages for Americans still haven’t caught up with inflation, and Russia has overtaken us as the top supplier of LNG to the European Union.

It will take an all-out effort to roll back all of President Biden’s disruptive energy policies, and Republicans in Congress must be prepared to remove the handcuffs from America’s energy industry.
