Four people died as a result of an attack in the center of Kyiv, Ukraine reports

Four people were killed as a result of a Russian airstrike on Kyiv overnight, local authorities reported.

The mayor of the city, Vitaliy Klitschko, said that air defense is in place around the Ukrainian capital.

Windows were broken in the Shavchenka district, including at the metro station, and a fire broke out in a non-residential building, he added. It is unclear what was targeted.

The authorities warned of the threat of ballistic missiles and urged local residents to go to the shelter.
