“First of all. I want to give honor to God for sheltering and protecting me to make this situation out and countless others,” Horton, 32, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 16. “Everyone who checked on me is happy for me, especially my family and friends. I’m delighted, thank you very much.”
Horton uploaded several pictures of his injury – including X-ray who showed the bullet in his arm.
“Gettin shot a few days before Christmas wasn’t on my wishlist 😂🎅🏽,” he continued. “But a shot through the car happened to me, the bullet broke my whole arm kind of if—. But I’m Blessed not to be in a casket or paralyzed.”
Horton noted that he wasn’t focused on “healing,” adding, “I got a plate n screws in my arm, so I can’t practice for a minute I’m mad about it BUT it could be worse! And I don’t need any sympathy I just bounced right back I feel amazing 💯💯.”
He finished: “I wanted to remind you and myself to Keep God first! Be Awake n Grateful for everything. the devil can’t stop sh*t when you walk with God 🙏🏽.”
The actor received a lot of support in the comments section from his former costars, incl Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkinswhich appeared on Dear White People. “Thank God for your life. I’m so VERY happy you’re ok,” she wrote.

“I feel that it has changed my life somewhat, saved my life,” he said to sight360 The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. “I will say that he and other people I look up to a lot and to see this person in the flesh and know only in my high school brain, I was like, ‘I I hope to be like him one day,’ and I’m sitting here looking at him.”
Horton considered it an honor to spend time with Washington on set.
“I want to stare at the stars, I want to ask him 2,000 questions, but I also want to be as good as he is right now and try to create this scene,” he said. “So it was very difficult, but we had to talk about a lot of things. We talked about Shakespeare, we talked about God, we talked about love, making mistakes and things like that, but it was a very humbling experience for me.”
