While fans have said goodbye to the American captain back in Avengers: EndgameThere have been increasing rumors that will appear again Avengers: DoomsdayPossibly playing a big role in the film’s pot. But Marvel Insider Alex Perez recently suggested that Chris Evans’ cap star could be sticking around for more movies in the MCU after Doomsday. While this would please fans who want to see more of this iconic character, the truth is that Evans would continue to play a future cap in films ruin the entire point of the upcoming MCU restart.
It’s an open secret that Avengers: Doomsday Comes with plenty of Marvel stars together, including some of the 20th Century Fox X-Men movies. This is due to raids of several realities to the familiar McuAnd according to the rumors mill (becker possible Spoilers, Kiddos), Evans is in the film because the American captain caused one of the raids by going back in time in Endgame and live a normal life with Peggy. This is alleged to make it a target for Robert Downey Jr. DOCT DOOMAlthough Alex Perez did not expand exactly how or why a cap could keep around for future films.
This news gives me very mixed feelings because I assume we would get a different version of Captain America in Avenger: Doomsdaysuch as the Comics’ Bad Hydra Cap. And even getting the real cap back for one adventure would be right, if it were but because it would be fleshly what he would ever look after with Peggy Carter. But I can’t help but think that Evans would stick around in the role that makes him famous for future films ruin Marvel’s plans to restart (or “reset,” as Kevin Feige likes to give) this cinematic universe after Avengers: Secret Wars.
Previously reported that the MCU replacement would re -draw Iron Man and Captain America, which made sense: both characters had defined endings in Endgameand the two actors had retired before Wonders. Would make sense to bring the actors back for cameos as different characters (like Chris Evans Return to play the human torch or Robert Downey Jr. returns to play Doctor Doom). But reshaping the favorite fan characters for the reset universe was going to serve as the best way to let fans know that the MCU was very different from what came before.
If Chris Evans is clinging around as American captain, however, Marvel’s proposed reset will effectively ruin because fans will inevitably annoy when other characters are re -drawn. For example, given how many payday he ordered, it will almost certainly be impossible to get Robert Downey Jr back to play Iron Man in MCU movies after Avengers: Secret Wars. But the common fan who does not understand the financial reality of making films will wonder why Marvel could bring Chris Evans back as a cap but he had to go to re -draw Iron Man, another dear character.
That clearly extends to other cast members as well. How strange it will be to see a re -drawn widow having the same playful dynamics as Chris Evans as Scarlett Johansson had in movies like American Captain: Winter Soldier? Or what about when Chris Hemsworth At last retirement from Marvel and we see Chris Evans on screen picking up another man’s hammer?
This is all guessing at the moment, but an MCU vandom is incredibly foggy, which is why a superhero fatigue turned movies like The wonders and The Thunderbolts to failures. Marvel is currently on a creative inflow point, where directors can either find out what fans want or watch their films bombing as they compete with DCU James Gunn. Keeping Chris Evans around but no other retired Marvel veterans shows that Marvel is half a ** ing this restart, and that’s the fastest way to get the remaining fans to look out of the MCU altogether.
Alex Perez may be wrong and Chris Evans, like Robert Downey Jr., will not return after Secret wars Reboot this scattered cinematic universe. If Perez is right, though, Marvel undermines his own ambitions by bringing back only one retired legacy character for a circular role in re -drawing everyone else. And the inevitable fan backlash against this decision would be slightly similar to events American Captain: Civil WarPuts allies against each other in a major conflict that threatens to ruin everything Marvel has spent nearly two decades building.
