In the video, posted on Thursday, September 18, through InstagramCornell can be seen string a guitar as he and a young Toni sang to “love the way you lie” Emin and Rihanna.
In the headline, Vicky, 46, honored Toni and reflect on her late husband, who died by suicide in May 2017.
“21 years passed in a flash…. Thanks for my choice to be your mother – this is the biggest gift I’ve ever given. I feel so wonderful and grateful for everything you’ve brought in my life,” wrote Vicky.

“You were the most amazing little girl, and you’ve grown into the most amazing young woman. Your heart is scarce – full of love, strength, compassion and resilience,” he added. “I know it hasn’t been easy. Life threw you a heartbreaking curve – a loss that no one should have to carry. But even through that, you’ve continued to grow, love, and to shine. I’m so proud of you – and I know your father is too.”
Vicky went on to share a memory of her late husband, writing, “From the first moment you saw on that ultrasound and heard, ‘It’s a girl!’ – You were his toni baby.
“This is the beginning of a completely new chapter in your life, and we can’t be more exciting to watch you step into it. I love you. I worship you. You have been my strength, my reason and my greatest joy,” Vicky wrote, closing the post, “Happy 21st, to our beautiful girl 💓.”
Toni and Cornell shared a love for music, with Toni first getting public attention when a duo performed from Every Marley“Redemption Song” with her father in 2015. Vicky performed the song again in 2019 in A tribute concert to her fatherThis time singing with Marley’s eldest son, Ziggy Marley.
Cornell, lead vocalist of rock bands Audioslave and Soundgarden, was found dead inside a hotel bathroom in May 2017 in Detroit after performing a show with Soundgarden earlier at night. Suicide was awarded to his death.
Cornell has been survived by his widow, Vicky, and their two children, Toni and Christopher, 19. He also shared a girl, Lilian Jean, with his first wife, Susan money.
