In the last classification of Ring Magazine for Super Middleweight, Canelo Alvarez moved from the champion to # 1 after his loss to Terence Crawford on Saturday night. The rankings were updated on September 15, 2025.
Bud is now the Ring Champion in 168 after a single fight in the weight class. He was perceived as a large enough victory for Crawford (42-0, 31 kos) to give him the champion’s place. He became an indisputable champion of three divisions and captured his fifth division title.
It is questionable if Canelo (63-3-2, 39 kos) deserves the number 1 ranking because there are probably four fighters below the top 10 of the ring, who would have an excellent chance to beat him as Crawford did, but more impressive.
I think 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 would surpass Alvarez. The #10 is William Scull, a fighter that Canelo defeated on May 3. However, I suspect that he would fight much more aggressively in a resale after seeing what Crawford did.
The top 10 of the ring for an average weight
Champion: Terence Crawford
Osleys Iglesias (14-0, 13 kos) should be the number 1 in my opinion, and I think to beat everyone on the updated ring list for 168, including Crawford. The power of SouthPaw Iglesias in his right hook, on his left hand and Jab would be difficult for Terence. It has the same scope as Crawford and cuts the ring well.
After seeing Mbilli, Martinez and Pacheco throughout their career, they would raise great problems for Crawford with their power, size and pressure. These are boys who would not be cautious to launch and attack Crawford in a relentless manner.
The focus of Crawford to maximize his income and his desire to capture more belts means that he is unlikely to choose to defend his undisputed half -weight championship against any of these fighters.
Terence has not yet abandoned its titles, as it is likely to keep them in order to use them as a bait to attract Canelo in a second struggle. However, if he does not get the resale, Crawford will probably vacate the title when he is ordered to defend himself against Iglesias and the winner of the resale Mbilli vs. Martinez.
