Terence Crawford could have been against a first Gennadiy Golovkin

Movement vs. Power: GGG strategy

Crawford would have surely used the movement to try to neutralize Golovkin’s great power offense, probably in the hope of limiting the punch count in each round to a trick. This was Terence’s method for his knife victory over the slow foot channel last weekend.

Golovkin’s main version seemed to be a much higher fighter when cutting the ring to transfers. Thus, Crawford’s possibilities used the movement to avoid a decision against Golovkin without fighting him individually, would have been scarce. Terence’s survival rate could have been a few minutes against the GGG similar to the shark.

Crawford would have had to fight him. The amount of time Terence would have been able to endure -and fought with a young Golovkin would have been a good handful of rounds in my opinion. I don’t think Bud is built for this, fighting a powerful average weight like GGG.

Golovkin’s relentless capacity and ability

What we saw of the Crawford in large part (42-0, 31 kos) against Canelo was that he had lost much of his speed and was forced to most during the long sections of each round. It was a similar approach that Kell Brook tried to use against Golovkin in his fight on September 16, 2016.

This Brook version was probably a better punch than Crawford has never been and possessed a more powerful fist. Seeing Golovkin-Brook’s struggle today, there is no doubt that Kell was a more powerful punch than he has shown a first Crawford.

Brook’s Blueprint for failure

Kell’s movement was initially effective for the first three rounds, but GGG hunted him and began to beat him with body features, removing his legs in the third round. In the fifth, Brook had nothing left and was forced to fight Golovkin in his pocket, where he finished quickly, forcing the referee to stop the contest in the fifth round.
