There are friends’ movies, and then there are Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The comedy that Oscar won was very popular in 1969 and established Redford firmly as a leading man. He also created Subgenre who influenced films like Beverly Hills Cop. Fatal weapon and Grief.
Redford plays the Sundance Kid, a specialized gun that helps his friend, Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman), Remove several robberies in the Old West. When a train robbery goes wrong, they flee to Bolivia, where they both romant the bold etta place (Katharine Ross) and make plans to abandon their criminal lifestyle and go straight. But is ordinary life in the cards for these two outward men, which attracts trouble wherever they go?
Directed by George Roy Hill. Butch Cassidy Works mainly because of the relaxed friendship between his two masculine stars. Newman and Redford have never been more fun than charming as the Titular Outlaws tit, even in their subsequent film together, The injection. Amazingly, Redford did not make another movie with Newman after that Caper comedy. If he had done that, there would probably be more Redford-Newman films on this list.

Made right when Watergate was about to hit, The candidate is a political satire that is still edgy today. As the charismatic McKay, Redford plays the role of his film star looking to create a seemingly scandalous, empathic politician and seems attentive to the needs of his voters. The big joke of the film is that there is really nothing behind Acts McKay – it all shows without saying, a man with no real plan to help anyone. Sounds familiar, isn’t it?

‘The way we were’ (1973)

The way we were is Barbra StreisandFilm, but would not have worked without Redford. Streisand stars as student activist Katie Morosky, who meets ambitious writer Hubbell Gardiner (Redford) in a protest on campus in 1937. Complete contrasts, however they fall over and continue their romance during and after the Second World War. But the post -war red terror reveals their political and ideological differences, and their love is not as stable as they both thought.

Katie Streisand is a mouth, respectful and messy, but Hubbell Redford likes it. (Can you blame him?) On paper, his character is two-dimensional-an ideal-cariad whose yellow perfection in his imperfection-but Redford somehow makes him human and earthly. The end, when Katie pushes a lock of Hubbell hair to the side, is one of the great bitter highlights in film history.

‘Ordinary people’ (1980)

Redford stepped behind the camera for the first time in his career, and paid his efforts in his hundredth- Ordinary people Very popular and critical, and the actor won Best Director Oscar in 1981. A gentle moving movie slowly, Ordinary people Explores cuts in a family that, from the outside, seems perfect. But as Conrad works through his problems with an understanding psychiatrist (Judd hirsch), he realizes that his family has not been happy even before his brother’s death. The Redford address is very similar to acting – strong, sturdy and unobtrusive. It has an invisible, shock-free touch that is fraudulently simple but very complex and difficult to remove. Ordinary people It could have been a manipulative rupture filled with cheap pathos and convenient solutions to complex problems, but instead it became a classic drama that is still devastating to watch today.

‘Sneakers’ (1992)

Sneakers It’s not a classic – it’s a bit too wide and silly for that. But his place in Redford filmography is still important because he shows the actor doing something he rarely does on screen – acting goofy. Redford plays the role of Martin Bishop, a former 1960s brotestgy who went to hide and now works as head of a high-tech security team in San Francisco. His past holds up with him when a former ally, cosmo (Ben Kingsley), reveals his true identity to avenge his years imprisonment, for which he blames Martin. On the run, Martin and the Ragtag team of hackers will have to defeat Cosmo while avoiding the authorities.
Redford almost always played the leading dash man but SneakersHis Martin is a bit of a loser. Constantly on the run, he has to rely on the help of his friends, played by an impressive cast that includes Sidney Poitier and River Phoenix, to help them out. The film shows a lighter side of Redford Persona, allowing the actor who usually stocks a few good jokes here and there. It is a free, reckless performance, and is reaffirming why Redford appealed to audiences from the 1960s to the 2010s.
