Jane Fonda mourns the death of Robert Redford: ‘I can’t stop crying’

Jane Fonda had an emotional response to the news about Robert RedfordDeath.

“It hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can’t stop crying,” the actress, 87, divided in a statement to Weekly US On Tuesday, September 16. “It meant a lot to me and he was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for America we have to keep fighting for it.”

Previously, Fonda shared that she had a squeeze on Redford when they worked together, but never followed a romantic relationship.

“I was always in love with Robert Redford,” he told the Guardian In 2015. “I made three films with him and nothing happened because I was married and he was married.”

Although Redford had no idea that Fonda had such strong feelings towards him, the actor shared in an interview in 2017 with Esquire that he and fonda had a “very special relationship” that began early in their careers.

“It just clicks. Whatever her life – which was all over the place – whatever my life, when we came together, were forgotten,” she explained. “We and I worked together. She didn’t need much analysis. She fell into place.”

Redford added that he “always admires” that Fonda is a “very strong woman.”
