It is a creative precedent that mixes old and new vampire literature

As you would expect, Van helsing takes some inspiration from Track – He follows one of the descendants of the legendary vampire Slayer Abraham van Helsing. (In this story, her name is Vanessa van Helsing, and she’s played by the talented Kelly Overton.) And the series uses some other classic vampire ropes – all the usual ways to kill a vampire are displayed here, for example. But Van helsing The series places that traditional vampire mythos in a very strange landscape.
When the series begins, Vanessa wakes up from a three-year coma, when a volcanic explosion covered the atmosphere with so much ash that the sun was blotted out basically-leading vampires to rise out of the darkness and take over the world. Now, human beings live run away from vamps, holding on to the hope of some savior who could turn things around.

Installation Van helsing reminds someone of The walking dead or The last of usand deals with some of the same tribal and survival themes. The vampires are truly scary, fully weighing to violence and gore instead of the more delicate blood we have seen in shows like True blood. But one of the most interesting turns on a vampire mythology is revealed at the end of the first episode – Vanessa’s Van Helsing Blood does not make it immune to vampirism alone, it has the power to turn back vampires into humans. That discovery puts poles to the show beyond survival: redemption and the possibility of recovering humanity.

Vanessa’s partner in her mission against the vampires turns out to be axel Miller (Jonathan Scarfe), former marine accused of caring for Vanessa while she was in her coma. Once she wakes up, their connection with their mind is obvious-but it does not take the romantic turn you would expect. Instead, their strong and faithful friendship becomes one of the show’s biggest assets.
Where many genre shows force a love story, Van helsing Lets axel and vanessa build a platonic bond rooted in respect and survival. Their banter balances tension with humor, and their trust in each other allows for some of the most emotional moments in the series.
A weak hero, the story of a weak yet intelligent physical boy who is immersed in increasing violence of secondary school bullies, has won obsessive sequence since leaking on Netflix. Kelly Overton is an overly low action hero

Van helsing He ran on Syfy from 2016-2021, and although that was a respectful run, the series never had the love he deserved. Kelly Overton, in particular, should be remembered in the female heroine immortal gallery that kicks a barrel alongside Buffy Summers (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Michonne Hawthorne (The walking dead) and Wynonna Earp (Wynonna earp). It has cool powers (which are becoming more and more impressive during the series), but it also has a hero’s heart.

She carries the show with a mixture of physical and emotional pressures. Overton’s combat choreography-especially her one-to-one battles with “feral” vampires-proves that she can stand face-to-face with any acting star, while her presentation of Vanessa sardonic single-liner liners give the character a great advantage to consider. At the same time, she plays the Battle of Vanessa with the burden of leadership and maternity with real vulnerability, especially in later seasons when her daughter Dylan becomes involved in the story.
