Chris Wilder has been appointed as director of Sheffield United after Ruben Selles looting Sunday.
The young man, 57, a lifelong leaf, returns to the mouth for the third time with the club rooted at the bottom of the championship, after losing the five games of the opening league.
Selles’ departure took place after the strong 5-0 Friday defeat in Ipswich, who left United in search of an alternative.
It is understood that Wilder, who has previously faced ownership of the contracting strategy, has given greater authority this time.
The recent club experiment with the signings of AI -driven players has so far produced disappointing results.
A former Sheffield United Defender, Wilder has two play spells and now three managerial courts in his name.
He took over in 2016, guiding the Blades in the Premier League in 2019. After leaving in 2021, he returned in 2023, but was dismissed three months ago after a final playoff defeat against Sunderland.
A message from the Sheffield United Board of its website said: “After a difficult start of the season, the Council considered it necessary to make a change to stabilize the actions and strengthen our push for promotion.
“Although the adoption of a different play style was pursued with ambition, the results have not clearly met expectations.
“Chris Wilder returns with a proven leadership and an unmatched understandable understanding of Sheffield United. We are sure he is the right person to restore the impulse, unite the workforce and followers, and deliver the necessary results to achieve our goals this season.
“We want to thank Ruben for the sales of his hard work and his professionalism during his time at the club. The responsibility for the recent results falls on us as owners, and we are fully committed to supporting the team and to pursue the promotion.”
