US President Donald Trump, which was joined by Republican Governor Tennessee Bil Lee, created an operational group on Monday to commit crimes in Memphis, Tennessee.
A city under the leadership of the Democrats, which is facing the repression of the Trump administration on the crime after Washington.
It is reported that Trump has promised to “fix” the city after the stellants for a similar operation in Chicago, from the opposition of local and state officials.
Memphis mayor, Paul Young, also expressed confrontation with the plan, claiming that the crime was already dropped without federal intervention.
The president said that on Monday, however, Memphis “overcomes” the edges, robberies and shootings, as well as other crimes.
“We are no longer going to allow this kind of savagery to destroy our society more,” Trump said at the signing of the memorandum in the oval office.
“We are going to take care of all their step by step, as in the DC. We now have virtually no crimes in the DC, and we will keep it that way,” he said, noting that he still has sights in Chicago and Saint Louis, Missouri.
Trump said the Memphis will be an “copy of efforts” in Washington, adding that it activates federal agencies, including the National Guard, the FBI, immigration and execution of customs authorities, as well as alcohol, tobacco, gunshot and explosives (ATP).
Lee praised his efforts for a “sustainable decline in the crime”.
In an interview with CNN on Saturday, Young stated that “was not happy” about federal plans to place the National Guard in Memphis – he said the plan for the first time was confirmed by Trump on Fox News the day before.
“My goal is to make sure that when they really come, we have the opportunity to bring some solutions as they participate in our community,” he said.
“This is what we have no choice,” he added. “We will do our best to make sure it has a limited effect on our communities.”
Republican legislators in the state – including Governor Lee – expressed support.
Last week, the governor stated that he had already worked on a plan with the White House, which would lead to a “full degree of federal and state resources” in Memphis.
FBI’s statistics since 2024 show that Memphis has 2.501 violent crimes per 100,000 people, one of the highest indicators of any city in the United States.

Polls, however, show that the deployment of the National Guard troops in the city is unpopular with many locals, and legal experts have questioned the legitimacy of the use of troops in US cities.
Earlier in September, a federal judge in California ruled that the deployment of Trump troops to stop the excitement in the Los -Andeles was illegal this summer, although the ruling does not apply to other cities.
