WBO welterweight Brian Norman Jr. took to his Top Rank partner Teofimo Lopez on social media, reacting to him by saying that he did not want to fight for the unification with IBF champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis when he had the opportunity to face- See him in November.
Brian Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) told Teofimo that he is “complaining about the money” and that he’s trying to keep his career alive by talking about “Crazy” so people want to watch his fights. Fans “still don’t care” to watch it. Then Norman Jr. dared Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) to reach 147 in an attempt to take his WBO belt.
Lopez’s popularity plummeted from its peak four years ago, when he upset the injured Vasily Lomachenko in a 12-round unanimous decision on October 17, 2020. Two have not done anything since, winning to lesser fighters and face progressively worse opposition to the point. where fans no longer mention it.
Teo hasn’t been the same fighter since his match against Loma, and some fans believe he’s washed up at 27 years old. The Lomachenko fight got the best of Teofimo, leaving the shell that was lost to George Kambosos Jr., who was given to him. Controversial decision wins over Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz.
Lately, Teofimo has started calling on Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis and Terence Crawford, who are completely out of their league. These are fights where he has no chance of winning, but there are even fewer matches.
If Lopez wanted to reinvent himself and be taken seriously by fans once again, he would take Norman Jr. in his bid to fight him for his WBO welterweight belt. Landing that title would give Teofimo some bargaining chip to fight Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs), who is set to win every welterweight title for some reason. me
The money Lopez would make fighting Norman Jr. they won’t be big, but he has to see the fight as an investment in his future. If he can capture that title, it would open the door to a fight against Boots and possibly some of the other top welterweights, such as Conor Benn.
You didn’t want to fight Boots when you had the chance. All because of $$$$… I fought Lomachenko, the #1 P4P, and went home with less than $500,000. You don’t believe in YOURSELF AND THAT’S ALL A FIGHTER NEEDS TO WIN, but hey, good luck with your setup @OfficialBNorman #Boxing
