Nottingham’s new manager, Ange Postecoglou, believes that his team will fulfill his potential despite starting his term with Midland Club with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal.
Martin Zubimendi scored his first two goals from Gunners and Viktor Gyokeres was also on the card, as the former Cap of Tottenham endured a miserable return to the northern Rivals House of London in his former club.
Forest rarely seemed to write down the emirates while their defensive fragility was exposed again as the prey of the 12 Premier League game team without a clean sheet.
And while Postecoglou admitted that the result hurt his players, he insisted that they will improve in the coming weeks.
“Obviously, (is) a disappointing result for us. Look, they (the arsenal) are a good side and here at home they are a hard proposal,” said Postecoglou to TNT Sports.
“But I can’t blame the boys’ efforts. I thought they tried very hard. I think the second goal just after the half allowed them to move away from us.
“This week, it is fair to say, it was quite disturbing to the players. International week also, so players come in on Thursday and Friday. I try to implement new things, so it is very understandable that at the moment we do not have a clarity of thought.
“But now it’s my job to try to incorporate it in the coming weeks. And I’m sure we will do it because there is a group of players ready to do it.
Asked if he had identified specific areas of improvement, Australia said: “You have a fair idea, but it was not an ideal preparation for players and you must consider it.
“Everything you can ask for is effort and effort and they gave it. Today we faced a very good rival who, unfortunately, was a bridge too far.
“They are a group of players who showed last year how difficult they fight for each other. They are disappointed, but there is only one way to solve it.
“They are all great jobs. I have not yet taken care of myself. At the same time, that is why I am here, I love a challenge and we will go wherever we want.”
Then Forest is a trip to the city of Swansea City championship in the third round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening before traveling to Burnley in the League next weekend.
