Tottenham’s head, Thomas Frank, was full of praise for his players, especially Xavi Simons, after the 3-0 victory over West Ham.
The Spurs won a comfortable victory in the London Stadium on Saturday evening, courtesy of Pape’s goals, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van ven.
Speaking after the game, Frank said, “I think it was generally a good performance. I think in the first half we didn’t give anything (to them).
“Next to the Flip, I felt that we were near. We had some good shots and believed in the box and dominated, we kept them supported. And then we scored the goal of the second half, we went well. Sometimes the game can change, the impulse can change just after the break, but we only continued.
“Of course, the red card helps, but I felt that we were dominant anyway.
“I think (the red card) was the right decision. (Tomas) Soucek is a very honest player, a player I respect a lot, so I don’t think it was the intention, but it was a red card.”
Xavi Simons debuted, “I thought it was good. I thought it was really good. It was really positive and promising, there is more to come. Excellent ball for the goal, I think he took initiative on the ball, he created something when he was on the ball. So he was happy with that.”
In addition to the words of his manager, Simons spoke to the press after providing an attendance for the first goal.
He said, “Really happy with victory, and making my debut at the Premier League is such a special time for me … It has always been my dream to play here in the biggest phase, the best (League) of all.
“Now I’m here with a magnificent team and I really enjoy the first days here.
“We know that the established pieces are as important as the rest of the game. In the second half, we talked with Pape (kill Sarr) and found it (for the goal).
“Obviously, I played a lifetime in position # 10, but the last two years I have developed on the left side. I am a player who wants to go for 1-on-1, assume my defender, trying to help the team setting goals and assists.”
