After nearly 4,000 industry numbers signed a pledge, promising not to work Israeli cinemasParamount made a statement that rejected the boycott on Thursday.
“In Paramount, we believe in the virtue of the narrative to connect and inspire people, to promote mutual understanding and to preserve the moments, ideas and events that we shave the world. This is our creative mission,” the statement issued by Melissa Zuckerman’s Communications.
“We disagree with the recent efforts to boycott Israeli. The silence of individual creative artists based on their nationality does not contribute to a better understanding and promotion of the cause of peace,” the statement reads. “The global entertainment industry must encourage artists to tell their stories and share their ideas with an audience around the world. We need more active and communication – no less.”
