Charlie KirkConservative commentator and head of Turning Point Usa died on Wednesday, September 10, after being shot during a speech at the University of Utah Valley in Orem, Utah. It was 31.
“With a heavy heart we, Turning Point USA’s leadership team, are writing to inform you early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in heaven,” read a statement of Turning Point, released on Wednesday night.
President Donald Trump Kirk’s death was also reported in office through Truth Social.
“The big, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” he wrote. “No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. It was loved and admired by allEspecially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathy go out to his beautiful wife Erikaand family. Charlie, we love you! “

The shooting occurred around 1:20 pm local time as Kirk was talking as part of his American Comeback tour. Photos shared on social media showed that Kirk appeared to be shot in the neck while speaking under a tent at the University Court.
An individual was taken into custody shortly after the shooting but that person is not thought to be the suspect, according to multiple reports.
The suspect fired a single shot of about 200 yards away, according to CNN.

Politicians from both sides of the aisle have denied the shooting in the time since it happened, with Trump writing through Truth Social, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. God’s blessing!”

Kirk Turning Point used usa in 2012 at the age of 18. In the years since, he went on to become one of the most influential voices in the Conservative media. Its podcast, “The Charlie Kirk Show,” was ninth on Apple’s podcasts for news from Wednesday afternoon.
A close ally of Trump, 79, Kirk worked directly with him his presidential campaign 2024. Trump credited him after the election for helping to evict young voters.
