Tunisia follows Morocco to punch the ticket after dramatic rating victory

Tunisia reached its place in the World Cup 2026 Monday with a dramatic victory over Equatorial Guinea.

Morocco became the first African group to reserve its place in the finals of 2026, the 2022 semifinals do so in style with a 5-0 victory over Niger.

It was a much less routine victory for Tunisia, which required a 94-minute goal from Mohamed Ben Romdhane to get a 1-0 victory in Malabo.

Firas Chaouat stole Saul Coco of possession on the right flank, giving it a clear path to go as an equatorial fox that was caught on the counter. Chaouat qualified for Romdhane, who had the simple task of rolling home from a knitwear with goalkeeper Jesus Owono completely defenseless.

The victory gives Tunisia an unattainable advantage at the top of the H -ranked group H with two remaining games.

Tunisia will make a third successive appearance in the finals, although they have never progressed outside the group stage. With the extended tournament of 32 teams to 48 with the eight best finishes of the third place that have been progressing since the group stage, the Cartage Eagles will be sure to change this record by 2026.
