Shreyas iyerOne of the most promising baptisms of the Indian Cricket, has endured a career full of maximum and lows since its international debut in 2017. Now 30, has represented India in 135 games in formats. As he remains a regular at the Cricket Hate, his last appearance was in February 2024 and his final departure T20i arrived in December 2023.
Iyer’s journey has been away from being soft. In 2024, the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) The headlines terminated their central contract after he refused to play a domestic cricket for Mumbai, quoting an injury to his back. The BCCI medical team, however, stated that it was suitable for playing. The fall saw that Iyer lost the contract, a decision that many considered to be aimed at setting an example for others.
Speaking in the podcast of The Quest Talk Iqoo India, Shreyas He candidly revealed how he learned to deal with constant mishap. His mantra is clear: Stop worrying about external opinions and focus exclusively on improving self-best.
“Stop giving -a little bit about what people think about you. Once you have this mentality, you will continue to work in yourself. I keep learning every day. I feel that you are never perfect as an individual, so he continues to learn and knowledge is eternal. I always hope to transcend beyond my skills and learn every day.” Said Shreyas.
The batter admitted that his perspective did not change during the night. Years of rejection and failure forced him to rethink his approach and to build resilience.
Shreyas also had to face challenges to the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite leading the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to his first IPL title in a decade, he was released from the franchise shortly after. Not one that was bewildered, he made an impressive comeback guiding the kings of Punjab (PBKs) in the final IPL 2025.
However, even this success was not enough to ensure -a place in India’s workforce for the next Asia Cup 2025. For Shreyas, it was another memory of the unforeseen cricket and the importance of keeping on the ground.
“There have been phases in my life. It’s not as if I went directly and starting to think so, but obviously there have been rejection. There have been failures. There have been ups and downs. Life has been like a roller coaster ride. So, through all these, I learned a lot.” He reflected.
Although he acknowledged the frustration of losing the national workforce, despite acting constantly, Shreyas emphasized the importance of professionalism and hard work.
“It’s frustrating when you know you deserve to be on the team and play XI. But at the same time, when someone acts and plays constantly for the team and bringing the best, it supports them. The goal is for the team to win. When the team wins, everyone is happy.” He explained.
For Shreyas, success is not only in the selection, but also in maintaining the discipline and continuing to give their best even when no one looks. “It’s not as if you just worked hard when the eyeballs are in you. Even when no one looks at it, you have to keep putting your job.” Added.
Despite recent disappointments, Shreyas now has a golden opportunity to resuscitate his test career. The BCCI has named India Captain in Team for the next domestic series against Australia A. The appointment provides him with the opportunity to show his leadership and his beat skills at a time when competition for medium -sized places is still fierce.
This call could be Shreyas’s passage to regain its place in the upper test, especially with India that is preparing for a transitional phase in the red ball cricket.
