The India-Pakistan match at the Asia Cup It has caused anger due to tensions between the two countries, especially after Pahalgam’s horror attack, in which 26 tourists were killed by terrorists supported by Pakistan. The old cracks and fans have declined, with some even asking for a boycott.

BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, confirmed that the Council will pursue this policy and added that India will play Pakistan in the Asia Cup, following the rules of the Government.
“ Regarding the BCCI vision, we must follow anything from the central government. Recently, our policy – in accordance with India’s participation in any multinational or international tournament, clearly states that there are no restrictions imposed by the Central Government to play against countries not in terms of india. Thus, India must play all parties in any multinational tournament, ” said Saikia exclusively.
India and Pakistan have avoided the series of bilateral cricket since 2012, but they have faced each other in multinational tournaments such as Hate and the T20 World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup.
Pakistan traveled India for 2016 World Cup T20 and the World Hate Cup of 2023, while India jumped Pakistan for the 2025 champions trophy, with parties held in Dubai. The BCCI and the PCB have agreed to follow a hybrid agreement for all events of the ICC in the 2024-27 cycle.
“Because the Asia Cup is a multinational tournament that involves countries on the Asian continent, we must participate. In the same way, in any Tournament of the ICC, even if it involves a country that does not have good condition with India, we must play. With regard to bilateral ties, we will not play against any hostile nation,” added Saikia.
Devajit Saikia emphasized that the Council will strictly follow the policy established by the Indian government on sports commitments with Pakistan. He said that the boycott of Pakistan on world tournaments could lead to sanctions through various sports.
“So, we follow the policy framed by the Government of India, the Department of Development of Youth and Sports. So the policy we follow are fully aligned with the policy framed by the central government,” Saikia said.
“And that is why BCCI will have to do it. And we are very happy to follow politics. And this policy is very well done, taking into account not only the cricket, but also other games,” he said.
India And Pakistan is placed in the same group for the Asia Cup. The group in group phase between the two teams will take place on September 14 in Dubai, with the ability to face up to three times in the tournament.
Above all, India boycotted two meetings in the World Legends Championship, a tournament with retired players in July, including the derivation of the semifinal against Pakistan champions.
