South -Korea Maca rapid response to raid deals at American facility

The South Korean government held an extraordinary meeting and promised to quickly respond to the arrests of hundreds of its citizens in a large -scale immigration raid at the Hyundai plant.

Seoul sent diplomats to a site in Georgia, while LG Energy Solution, which works at the Hyundai plant, said the US rail in the US.

US officials detained 475 people – mostly South Korean citizens – who, according to them, were illegally working in a battery, one of the largest foreign investment projects in the state.

The White House defended the operation, rejecting the concern that the raid could restrain foreign investments.

“They were illegal foreigners, and ice (immigration and execution of customs authorities) simply did their job,” said President Donald Trump after the raids on Friday.

The video published by ICE officials showed that Asian workers rose in front of the building, with some wore yellow vests such as “Hyundai” and “LG CNS”.

“People who are in short-term or recreational visas have no right to work in the US,” Ice said, adding that raid is needed to protect US jobs.

“This operation sends a clear message that those who exploit the system and undermine our labor will be held accountable,” a special security agent (HSI) Stephen Schrank said in a statement on Saturday.

South Korea, close to us, promised tens of billions of dollars for US investments in production, partly to compensate for tariffs.

The raid terms because two governments participate in sensitive trade talks, caused concern about Seoul.

Trump actively called on major investments from other countries, as well as enhance visa apparatus for foreign companies.

Many of the arrested LG employees were in business with different visas or as part of a visa waiver program, officials say.

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hun said he was “a great sense of responsibility for the arrest of our citizens” when he presided over an emergency meeting on Saturday.

He said the government created the team to answer the arrests and if necessary, he could travel to Washington.

On Saturday, the LG Energy Solution said it sends its head resources to Kim Ki-Sa on Sunday to the Georgian website.

“We make universal efforts to ensure the rapid release of detained persons from our company and partnerships,” the South Korean media said.

“We confirm regular medicines for families through an emergency contact network for the detainees and plan to request the necessary medicines for the detainees.”

The company said it suspends the majority of business in the US and sent employees to the US assignment immediately return home.

South Korean media widely describe raid as “shock” when the Dong-A ILBO newspaper warned that it could “cool down on the activities of our business in the US.”

The factory, which creates new electric cars, was recognized as the Republican Governor of Georgia as the largest project of economic development in the history of the state in which 1200 people worked.

The arrested employees were carried out in the ice in Folkstan, Georgia, until the agency decides where to move them.

47 employees were detained and about 250 workers for contractors at the joint venture plant.
