“With intense sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, our friend’s husband and Today Cohost Sheinelle Jones, died after a brave battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma, ” Savannah Guthrie said on May 23, 2025, broadcast. “There are no words about the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an amazing person. We all loved him.”
He continued, “We want to take a moment to tell you more about the wonderful man who was the perfect partner of Sheinelle in life.”

1990s
Jones and Ojeh romance began at the University of Northwestern when he gave him a campus tour. They started dating shortly afterwards, and were together for eight years before Ojeh bid on campus.
September 2007
Jones and Ojeh tied the knot in her hometown, Philadelphia.
August 2009
The couple became parents for the first time, welcoming Kayin’s son.
July 2012
The twins Clara and Uche completed the family three years later.
November 2023
Jones had Ojeh in her corner when she Run New York City Marathon.
“They say it’s one of the best days of your life. It goes beyond running. And every time you feel like you can’t run anymore, someone cheers your name,” Jones remembered Today. “It’s a once in a lifetime experience. If anyone is listening to me, and you’ve ever wanted to challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone, do it.”
After crossing the finish line in just over four hours, Jones celebrated Ojeh and their children.
“I had my children’s initials on my arm, my husband’s initials, and said ‘just do it,'” he added. “They are my reason why.”
A month earlier, Jones was just as proud of Ojeh for completing his first triathlon race.
“I think it’s so important to celebrate the earnings of the people you love – this weekend it was about ‘The Uche’s,’” he wrote through Instagram In October 2023. “The football team took my first youngest son in their tournament… In the meantime, Aka Big Uche’s father defeated a triathlon. It’s something he has always wanted to do…. And he trained very hard for it. I’ve watched both of them – day in and day out … running and chipping.

Jones teased his lifelong “crushing” on Ojeh in a sweet birthday tribute.
“I’ve had a squeeze on you since I was 19 … and I’m still doing. ☺️”He wrote through Instagram.

Jones revealed through Instagram that She was planning to take hiatus from Today In the midst of the “family health issue.” She did not explain further details.
“He has not lost how lucky I have, not only the support of my family show today, but also to get all of you,” he wrote. “Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon.”

After the publication of Ojeh’s death, Jones’ Today Colleagues offered their condolences.
“One thing he always talked about – he mentioned those children,” Craig Melvin Remember. “He loved those children above all else in this world, and he was equally pleased. That father was on the sideline in every ball -footed game. He was at all in the concerts, the statements. He was that guy, and they had such a beautiful love story.”
Jones reposted the Today Segment to Instagram, writing, “Thank you for all your love and support. ❤️. “
September 2025
Jones returned to Today On September 5, 2025, a place She is a fine tearful Ojeh Cancer Battle and his grief.
“In this moment, I’m fine. On a daily basis, I’m fine. Oh macro picture, how am I doing? My heart is shattered in a million pieces. The life I’ve known since I was 19 years old is no bigger,” he told Cohost Guthrie. “I always wanted children, and I have three children myself now and they lost their father. I’m their mother, and it’s sucking. So how am I doing? It’s day -to -day. I’m proud of myself for how I have coped so far. I’m proud of my children about how we’ve been able to pull through, but it’s horrible.”
Jones also revealed why he chose Keep Ojeh health struggle private.
“When he was diagnosed, he asked me, ‘Please, I want to treat this privately.’ And it was so defensive of us and the children over the years that my turn was defensive, ”said Jones sitting with her fellow Today Anchors in the studio. “And he was so loyal, so my turn was to be loyal. And we honored that. Now, I feel comfortable talking.”
