Tina fey and Amy Poehler have become an iconic duo because of their collaborations on Swallow. Mean womenand co-hold the Golden Globes. Baby mama is one of the few films they have actually starred together, though, and their chemistry elevates it to the greatness of comedy. Fey stars as Kate, a business woman who is driven who decides in her late thirties that she wants to have a baby but finds that she is unlikely to have success with IVF. Poehler plays Angie, an immature slacker who agrees to become a proxy to Kate’s baby.
When Angie breaks up with her unrestricted boyfriend (Dax Shepard), she finishes moving in with Kate. Despite their conflict personalities, the two women eventually help each other grow – Kate learns to loosen and be more encouraging, while Angie learns to be more responsible. Watching these two wonderful comedians go through birth classes and other parest milestones together is very funny.
If you are a parent or on your way to become one, this movie has to be seen. But if you’ve ever had a best friend who drives you crazy (and who doesn’t?) You’ll find something to identify with here too.
