John “Ludwig” Taylor (David Mitchell) don’t like people that much. At Recluse, he prefers to stay inside and enjoy in his basic passion – make puzzles. But when his brother’s twin, James, disappears, he is forced to imitate him to find out what happened. To make things more stressful, he must use his skills as a puzzle maker to solve crime in his brother’s absence.
Luddwig Uses his far-reaching preset to create a fascinating mystery show which is also a water-out-of-water comedy. With the help of his brother’s wife, Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin), Ludwig must be as charming and outgoing as his brother is in resolving crimes. It is not usually successful, which leads to awkward scenarios that are pure comedy gold.
If you lose Monk and want a murder mystery series that is not that serious, look Luddwig. It is one of the best reviewed shows in 2025 and has already been Refreshed for a second term.
