Team India is all ready for your long -awaited test visit Englandfrom June 20, 2025. This tour marks a new chapter in the Indian cricket with Shubman gill taking the reins as captain and Rishabh pant named his deputy.
The team presents a combination of fresh faces and experienced campaigns, establishing the tone of a new era in the longest format. However, in the transition process, several players who were part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 I have not made the cut for the tour of England. From the iconic stalls to the rising young people, here is a look at six Indian cricketers who were part of the BGT template, but missing the team traveling to England.
1. Rohit Sharma – End of a glorious chapter
Rohit Sharma Initially, India was expected to go to England’s tour, but his surprise withdrew from the international cricket changed the lead of leadership. After capturing in India in 24 tests with 12 wins, Rohit’s quiet presence at the top of the order and the tactical goal will be lost very much. Its ability to deal with testing conditions and their actions in England would have been an asset, especially in the conditions of swing where the nucleus is proven. India will now look at the younger shoulders to fill the gap left by the veteran workshop.
2. Kohli shot: The Indian Test Giant Signs
Shortly after Rohit another Indian Cricket Legend, Shot kohliannounced his retirement from the red ball format. Kohli, who directed India during the iconic 2021-22 series of England, which ended 2-2, leaves behind a massive legacy in the test cricket. With 9230 runs in 123 tests, including 30 centuries, the absence of Kohli will feel deeply, both due to his stability of battle and his aggressive approach to challenging abroad. India’s average order, which often trusted Kohli’s solidity, will now depend on the younger talents to increase.
3. Sarfaraz Khan – talent waiting for opportunity
Sarfaraz Khan He has been a performer consisting of the domestic cricket and has been chosen in the BGT 2025 squad. However, he did not get a single game in this series and has now been excluded from the tour of England. In the six tests he has played, Sarfaraz scored 371 runs at an average of 37.10, including a century. His non -selection has puzzled many fans, especially considering the challenging medium -sized points in condition abroad, where India could use a technically sound batter.
4. Devdutt Padikkal: still the periphery
Devdutt PadikkalAnother promising young man found a place in the BGT squad, but could not enter the XI playing. After playing only two tests so far and scoring 90 runs with a half century, the left batter continues to find its foot internationally. Although he has presented Flair on domestic and IPL circuits, selectors may prefer more consistent and specific options for the hard tour of England.
5. Tantush Kotian: Waiting for the Great Rest
Mumbai All-Rounder Tanush kotianwhich was part of the BGT 2025 template, continues to end internationally. His ability to contribute to Bat and Dance makes him a valuable asset, but he has lacked. Under English conditions, where sewing bowls and specialized spinners are preferred based on the behavior of the pitch, Kotian could have been considered surplus to the requirements for this particular task. However, his household performances suggest that his opportunity may not be far away.
6. Harshit Rana: Amazing omission of Pace Attack
Perhaps the most amazing exclusion is that of Harsh. The young Pacer impressed in his limited opportunities, having presented in two tests and choosing crucial doctors. Although selectors have not publicly quoted any reason, it is supposed to have a strong set of pacers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Sirajand Arshdeep Singh In the mixture, Rana was cut in the pecker order. Their pace and rebound could have been useful in English conditions, making their absence remarkable.
