The annual awards show was originally scheduled to take place on January 12, but was pushed to January 26 after Santa Ana winds caused multiple fires to spread across the greater LA area. The fires destroyed businesses, schools and homes, forcing thousands to evacuate the region and claiming at least 25 lives.
Closing date later reported that the ceremony has been postponed for a second time until February, although the exact date has not yet been revealed.
There were several celebrities affected by the firesincluding Adam Brodywhich scored a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for Netflix’s Nobody Wants This. The show won a total of four nods, including Best Comedy Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Kristen Bell. (Brody, 45, and his wife, Leighton Meesteraccording to all reports lose their home in the fires.)
While Shogun leading the pack of TV nominations with six, Conclave a Wicked tied for the most film nominations with a total of 11, followed by Dunes: Part Two a Emilia Perez with 10 each.

After two delays due to bushfires, the 2025 Critics’ Choice Awards will take place on Friday, February 7. Amidst the rescheduling, the two hours Live from E! a red carpet special was cancelled.
The 2025 Judges’ Choice Awards will air live on E! starting at 7 pm ET. It will stream the next day on Peacock.
Chelsea Handler returns to host the Critics’ Choice Awards for the third year running. “Coming back for a third year to host the Critics Choice Awards is even sweeter knowing it will now be broadcast on E,” Handler, whose talk show Chelsea recently which previously aired on the network, he said in an October 2024 statement, per Variety. “I feel like I’m returning to my birthplace.”
Many of the year’s top film nominations included acting nods for its stars, such as Best Actor for Conclave‘s Ralph FiennesBest actress for Wicked‘s Cynthia Erivo and Best Actress for Emilia Perez‘s Karla Sofia Gascón.

Shogun is up for Best Drama Series alongside Day of the Jackal, The Diplomat, Evil, Industry, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, The Old Man a Slow Horses. Meanwhile, shows Abbott Elementarythe, English teacher, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, Murders only in the Building, Someone Somewhere, St. Medical Denis a What We Do in the Shadows all set for the Best Comedy Series.
Shōgun’s a total of six nominations including several acting nods, including Best Actor in a Drama Series for Hiroyuki SanadaBest Actress in a Drama Series for Anna SawaiBest Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Asano identified a Take Hiro Hira and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Moeka Hoshi. Similar to the Oscars – which are based on votes from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – the Critics Choice Awards are voted on by their own governing body, the Critics Choice Association (CCA). While entertainment journalists also vote on the Golden Globes, the CCA is specific to the Critics Choice Awards.
